Our business started with a passion for wood and woodworking, and that passion continues today to include the wood crafts and supplies industry. In the late 1970’s Mike Bayer, an accomplished woodworker and carpenter, had a small family-owned lumber yard and hardware store in Toledo, Ohio. Customers began asking for wood crafts, supplies, and other woodworking products not regularly stocked at the hardware store, so he found high-quality manufacturers of those products and began offering them to his walk-in customers.
As word got around about the quality of the products we carried, our friendly service, and our low prices, we soon found that people were visiting us from hundreds of miles around Toledo. To better serve our customers who lived outside the Toledo area, in the early 1980’s, we started our mail-order business. This allowed us to expand, ordering our products in greater quantities and passing those savings on to our customers. Today, we regularly stock over 2,000 items. We sell to our customers in small quantities, and even by the piece when needed, as well as offering larger customers the best pricing on large-volume quantities.
Bayer Wood Products is now a single-source supplier to crafters, woodworkers, carpenters, builders, hardware and lumber stores, and others, throughout the United States and around the world. Even though our product line has expanded greatly over the past several years, our core principles haven’t changed. We will always offer our customers fast, friendly service, in-stock availability and same-day shipping of the products they want, and the lowest possible prices.
